Ned Kahn (b. 1960) is an artist and sculptor who deals with natural and environmental issues. His works are akin to choreographies of natural phenomena, and usually involve capturing an invisible aspect of nature, such as wind, fog, waves, and steam, and making it visible. Nature's complex and random shifts and movements animate his works. For instance, a key element for Kahn is wind, as many of his projects utilize and require air currents. A number of his projects, such as Slice of Wind, attempt to make wind visible with movable, reflective parts. He has also created indoor tornadoes and fog, fire, and water vortices in his other works. Kahn's work straddles both art and science, and has been presented in both contexts.
