Chern Lian Shan (b. 1953) graduated from the National Taiwan Academy of Arts where he majored in sculpture in 1976. He participated in many exhibitions in Taiwan, and was a part-time lecturer at at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). He is well known for his sculptures of Singapore leaders and national icons and many landmark sculptures displayed prominently all over the island. Recent works include Nanqiao Jigong Memorial Sculpture (2013), the portrait of Mr. Tan Chin Tuan for Nanyang Technological University (2008), From Chettiars to Financiers (2002) and the Restoration of the Merlion Glass Waves (2002).
